The awesome Ray had suggested this, so I hope I'm not stepping on toes? I 'd be happy to toss some out there, to kickstart some writing ideas. How would people enjoy them?
I was thinking I can always write some sort of an intro and see what people do with it? Or - weekly prompts that are kinda themed, like the art one?
So just for fun!
Prompt #1 : Unusual familiars!

For Prompt # 1 - Unusual Familiars
The thing no one tells you about living with a familiar is how hard it is to rent a place. I mean, they’re not exactly pets, but that’s the closest the questionnaires get to defining them – I’m lucky enough that mine takes the shape of a cat, but for friends who happen to have a small alligator is pretty much impossible. Detached places in our area are completely out of my price range, and more and more townhouse complexes have a no pet policy nowadays – or restrict it to say, 5 lb chihuahuas. Naturally I’ve heard the helpful suggestion of just getting a roommate; its often offered with the kindest of smiles, as though the thought had never crossed my mind before. Of course, I’ve tried roommates. I’ve tried ones that don’t come with any pets or familiars, we even tried a group of us renting a bigger place together. Utter disasters on all counts.
My familiar just happens to be an anxiety cat, aptly named Cat. She is not a support cat – those are lovely- but rather a manifestation of my actual anxiety in the form of the bitchiest, most opinionated feline form. She was a gift from my ex, you could say, although to be fair she has been with me most of my life. I think it was only after I graduated and was supposed to figure out what the hell grownup up life was meant to look like that she finally manifested in full and took her spot at my side; I would say it has been an intense ride, but we’re figuring shit out.
Kinda.
Sometimes.
It got harder once word got around that she ate Kyle’s armadillo familiar (who was no joy to live with, let me tell you) and was unapologetic about it. Cat never apologizes, and as her partner I’m always having to clean up her messes, physical or otherwise, so I was surprised after the Kyle fiasco we were both invited to the new DnD campaign over at the Frog and the Nightgown. Despite prior experience, I think we’ll go check it out… they have the most amazing wings.

yeah ! there's no toes to step on, here! anything goes, this place is for creativity in any shape or form, whoever wants to do whatever however! I don't think there will be any opposition to anything anyone wants to do, unless the *unlikely* event occurs that tons of people join and things get too wild, hah.
that was truly fun to read, hehe. i wanna go to the Frog and the Nightgown, too. So is the idea of this thread that anyone can write their own response/continuation to the story? because that's a cool idea! we could just keep them going forever at any pace, haha.
I like both ideas, weekly prompt AND continuing story!
(sorry i have derailed this story with planning/rambling, hahah)

I love writing stories that people continue, so game with that, but they can also be a starting point ( the prompt ) for people to write one of their own. So really whatever people would like to do -- so if inspired, write away !

(Eee ok I'm nervous for some reason but I'm going to try. I think I will continue in first person/diary format. Hopefully *I* won't step on any toes ;; just going with the first thing that comes to mind.)
You would think that working at a place like The Frog and the Nightgown would be perfect for a duo like us, but I still have to keep Myxo hidden in my water bottle my whole shift. People tend to get a little squeamish when their waitress shows up with an ooze familiar coiled around her neck. I mean, I think it's adorable personally, and it's still a juvenile so it can hardly spit more than a teaspoon of acid at a time but one person gets (temporarily!!) blinded and it's a "public health crisis waiting to happen" and we're "lucky nobody pressed charges". We can't all have professionally trained pedigree ravens, Karen.
Anyway, other than that I really DO like this job. You meet all kinds of people with all kinds of stories. At first I didn't really get the appeal of role playing especially when you can do real magic, but it's tough out there. We're all trapped in a water bottle in some way...you know, metaphorically. One of these days when I'm not closing I'm going to see if I can join a game. I think I've watched enough that I wouldn't totally suck. Maybe I could even find an ooze-friendly group and let Myxo get some air...

hahahah, this made me laugh. also i now really want to see a drawing of the ooze in the waterbottle. the anxiety Cat and the ooz in a waterbottle. i really love both of these. i like the take on familiars. Ok:
I'm sitting in the corner table again just like I said I wouldn't. I say this every weekend, though. I say to myself, this is it, this is my weekend! I'm going to go in there and sit at the big table where they have the games! Even if I just watch, whatever, I'm gonna do it! But, of course, once again, here I am. Corner booth, spinning a cup of tea on the table, dobbing the tea bag in and out even though it has long-since finished steeping. I glance over as the group at the table grows. Feeling nervous. It's probably not a good night for it anyway. I'm a little tired from work, I wouldn't be at my best if I went over there. The booth is good for now. Anyway, Jules doesn't look like he's in the mood to interact with anyone. That's when I notice that the entire back of my coat is wet, it has finally soaked through and I can feel it on my shirt. Shoot.
I've told him no raining inside, he doesn't do it at home. I really can't bring him anywhere. Now there's no way I'm going over there, half soaked. I'll look like a crazy person.
"It's ok, Jules, we aren't going to the big table."
The little cloud rumbles a tiny bit of happy thunder and the rain stops. I sigh. Now I'm going to have to ask for towels or something since the seat and floor is wet. Sometimes I wish I could just leave Jules at home. But he's really attached and I'd feel too guilty about it... I admit I'm attached, too. I wouldn't really want to go anywhere without him... but sometimes I do fantasize about having a raven like Karen's... sometimes...

( Feel free to jump in Satis! The more the merrier! And sorry I was kinda AWOL guys, back now!)
There's always that voice at the back of my head that whispers 'trap!' whenever I'm entering some kind of social situation. It sounds suspiciously like Cat, but she is much more blatant about it most of the time. Despite the whisper, she seems just as excited when we enter the pub, and I can feel her shadowy tail brushing lightly on the back of my arm.
"Just so we're clear, you can't eat anyone today." I admonish quietly, hoping to set the expectations for the night. The tail stills as her eyes narrow; she begins to purr, which is never a good sign. "Damn it, Cat..."
"You made it!" Kyle appears behind one of the tables, and I can definitely hear her now. He looks the same as he always does, perfectly gray. Kyle has an uncanny way of vanishing into the crowd, something I know for a fact he does on purpose.
"Oh. Yeah, thanks for the invite... and sorry again for Otis..."
For a moment I see a flash of something and then he waves it off; it dissipates and he simply shakes his head. "It's fine. Not like you told Cat to do it, right? Anyway, I'm looking forward to the game. It's pretty much a one shot, but I think they're hoping to set up campaigns to attract more people regularly."
And there it is.
"Oh, so you're DMing tonight?" I try to surreptitiously look for the exits, while Cat's purrs simply grow as though a challenge has been issued and accepted.
"Yup. Should be fun. I'll finish setting up - we're doing it at the main area near the stage, so that anyone can join. I have a stack of pre-made characters so people can choose what they like and we don't have to worry about character creation tonight. Anyway, see you soon!"
I watch him make his way to set up and consider my options, but at this point I guess I'll just have to see it through. I make my way to a corner table and then notice someone else was already there, awkwardly enjoying a cup of tea. Cat hisses at the thought of missing out on messing with Kyle and his game, but I clear my throat anyway.
"Hi, super weird ask. Can I sit here? Contemplating whether I want to joint the game or not and they're less likely to ask me if I'm sitting with someone. Totally fine to say no, but I thought I'd ask..."
