Yeah, I'm pretty sure Jackal was our first trade! I didn't think of that either while drawing it, but I do distinctly remember that being our first trade (and possibly one of my first trades with anyone, ever). It's really cool to see how she has evolved and her present design is great! Yes I do love that reflective metal!!
I just realized I had intended to work on Jackal's hand some more but I forgot.;;

oh yeah!! wow, he looks freakin' amazing in your style. that hair! and coat, nice. i agree with the "fuck around and find out" attitude, that's very aubrey haha. i specifically love the hand/energy ball. it's very cool to see you guys draw aubrey, kinda surreal maybe? I've known grungecat for over a decade and I've known sarah and temiel for that long as well. anyhow its really neat to see this familiar character in the familiar style of other artists I know. I don't think I'm accurately saying what I mean to say, here, but hey! heee.

Grinn!! this. ahhhh I love the cat behind him, it's like a ghost reflection of himself. I mean, in his demon form he has these alien bug things that hover around him and are just extensions of himself. So like what if in his human form it's a cat... but the cat is also him... at the time. the fire ball too! he's all "fuck around and find out" is Aubrey 100000%!!! I love it!!!!! thank you,
I may need an extension on mine. But I plan on doing some work Sunday. I hope.
work got stupid busy.

I have something FOR YOooouuuU.
When I sketch I kind of throw some random color in there to see what Im doing, and really wanted to make the flowers in their hair pop! I hope I did Skara justice!! I am challenging myself here by drawing a human with armor. Human noses/mouths are my biggest weakness. BUT I DID IT. And yes, god, I think my my character Konstantine ran into them she would likely be blushing. hahaha.

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!! This makes me SO HAPPY I cannot even. <3 (Since I spared you all my keyboard mashing with my last comment, I'll try to keep it consistent, even though it's a VERY REAL IMPULSE which should absolutely be taken in a complimentary way.  ) My tomorrow is mostly going to be spent loading boxes into a truck and then driving to our new place, so this was the best thing to open up before I go to sleep tonight, because I can be thinking about it all day. Also, this explains why I wanted to comment right away: I didn't want to see it and then go to sleep and have you wait on a response! :3 I'm LOVING the treatment on the flowers! And the ARMOR! And the ABSOLUTE DISNEY PRINCESS BUTTERFLIES!! (Also, you did great on the nose/mouth!!) They look so properly sultry and it's really cool to see them in your style- it's *very* different from mine, and I freaking love to see it.
Thank you so much for making my night (and, in all likelihood, my day tomorrow)! You absolutely did do my baby justice and I'm soooo into this.

man grunge that is totally awesome. I freakin' love it. your style is one of my favorites! the hatching in the hair looks amazing, too. it adds a perfect amount of texture that compliments the color and linework. i love the proportions of their face as well and the expression. man, i truly do love how you draw humans!!

Also thank yoooooooou <3 Grungecat - glad you like it Aubrey is an interesting character and I had a lot of fun drawing him. I couldn't resist adding a nod to his anthro form. Cats are great! Your rendition of Skara is so beautiful. I really like the way you drew their armor. Ok ok ok time to stop holding back. Your Ando is so fucking perfect!! All that grizzled fur looks great in your style and I love how you did a mix of cross hatching and solid black for the dark parts. It has such a nice feeling of movement and dimension. There's something extra adorable about himalayan ears that really comes through in your drawing. Also just his general posture and expression are really well done. Thank you so much!! |

OH I LOVE HIM. <3 I just. He's giving me serious "Don Bluth cat" vibes, but... much cuter and friendlier. Love the heterochromia- I hadn't picked that up from the refs, but maybe it was mentioned in text somewhere and I just missed it. The fur has such great volume and the PUFF DOUBLET!! I'm also really digging the way you've done the paws here- so nicely angular!

Ando looks so great in your style! he has a super intensity, like he's clutching that paper and about to surge forth on a adventure. maybe he just read something that has incensed him. that's how i interpret it, anyway. he looks awesome! :>

I ACTUALLY GASPED.
I am LOSING MY ABSOLUTE TINY MIND over here. Omg they look INCREDIBLE. The DETAILS ON THE ARMOR. (Plate looks DAMN FREAKIN' FINE on them!) I am absolutely dying for that circlet/floral combo- it's EXTREMELY "Ozma" and it works sooooo well. I just keep looking at this and finding more to love- the expression! (FIERCE!) The hair! (Beautifully detailed, as it always is from you!) The BACKGROUND, EVEN! (So loosely implied in a way that doesn't distract from the figure, but still readable and atmospheric!) The PETALS! (Because if you can't be surrounded at all times by an anime-ish swarm of flower petals, what even is the point!)
There is no conceivable way I could love this more. All three of these sketches I've gotten are so wonderful in INCREDIBLY different ways and I'm very much feeling and recalling the full bore of awesomeness that comes when you let other artists with broadly varying styles draw your characters. Thank you SO MUCH for this- it's *fantastic!!*

man I love how you draw armor, it just looks so extremely natural and well formed. you really understand how it works on a functional level! and also how you draw hair! it looks very realistic with the unique textures captured so well while still being relatively simple in the strokes.
I agree Temiel, I love and miss seeing the various ways that different artists in a group interpret the same characters. it truly expands my mind!

Oh, she looks awesome!! Your style is--unsurprisingly--SO great with anthro characters. Your lines seem so... I don't know if "unlabored" is the right word? Like you don't agonize over them, they just EMERGE, you know? I love her sultry expression, and the red pops of color on the hair and tail are *chef kiss*.

I also want to echo that it's great doing exchanges again. I've been more productive than I have been all year I think :'D I love getting the chance to draw such cool designs and seeing other people's takes on my characters really inspires me to work on my own stuff. Plus it's wonderful to be social with other artists :') Like really just thank you for all of this.
Grunge- NINA! I've been a fan of her since I was like 16 >>. It's great to see art of her. I love the outfit you designed, especially the cool asymmetrical sleeves. I agree with Molly, the red touches and line quality is gorgeous! I use sticky notes like that too sometimes, they're like JUST the right amount of transparency.
Are you also a StarFox fan? SF64 was my whole life for a few years when I was in middle and early high school and I still play it/do fan art occasionally when I need some comfort or I'm feeling nostalgic. My long-neglected fursona was originally a SF fan character.
